ARCHIVED COMPETITIONS IN ALPHA ORDER

Awards for Design Excellence is the largest and most prestigious awards program for furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade. Eligibility: Manufacturers, suppliers and product designers are eligible to enter any number of products. Products having won previous ADEX awards are ineligible unless enhancements have been implemented on the awards winning versions. For instance new releases of previous software versions are eligible. An ADEX award winning sofa with a different fabric than the award-winning version would be ineligible, however if the same sofa were physically redesigned with different dimensions it would be eligible. Judging · An anonymous panel of professionals representing a cross section of the design industry judges entries. · Companies or individuals entering ADEX classify their entries into specific product categories. · Each category has potential for three award levels of platinum, gold or silver. · Judges award points in several categories for each entry. · Total points earned determine each product’s score. Minimum scores are needed to qualify for awards. · Winners are notified by phone once the judging all of their entries are complete. Special entry fees are in effect through December 3, 2004. All entries are published in Design Journal, the quarterly trade magazine for interior designers, architects and facility managers.. A product feature is in Design Journal normally $400 but with ADEX it’s as little As $150! Enter 5 or more and all entries will be featured in the Weekly Top 40 email program.

Furniture Society Call for Entries The Furniture Society is soliciting entries for a juried exhibition, “Curv-iture” which opens on June 10, 2004 at Savannah College of Art and Design in conjunction with the Furniture 2004 conference. Furniture in all media is eligible. Entry deadline is January 15, 2004. Remember: whether you bend, carve, or laminate, or twist, roll, slump, throw, spin, or melt, if you use the curve in furniture, then this is the exhibit for you.

dFX/BIDA BRITISH INTERIOR DESIGN AWARDS

What are the British Interior Design Awards? In their inaugural year, The British Interior Design Awards are a unique collaboration between idFX – the leading publication for the industry, and the BIDA (British Interior Design Association), the leading association for interior designers – developed to celebrate the many facets of the world of professional interior design.

Who can enter? The awards are open to designers, clients, manufactures, importers, end-users of design projects or products. The projects included on the entries for Interior Designer of the Year and International Designer of the Year must have been completed in the 24 months between 30 July 2002 and 30 July 2004. For all other categories, the projects or products must have been completed in the 12 months between 30 July 2003 and 30 July 2004. Student entrants must have been final year students during 2003/4 academic year.

• Small Offices (Total square footage for project less than 15,000 sq. ft.)
• Hospitality (Hotels, restaurants, clubs, senior living, cruise ships, etc.)
• Healthcare (Hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, doctor office, etc.)
• Institutional (Airports, schools, libraries, museums, theaters, etc.)
• Specialty (Ships, airplanes, boutiques, etc.)
RESIDENTIAL:
• Residence (Total square footage under 3,500 )
• Residence (Total square footage over 3,500)
• Model Home/Showhouse
• Singular Specialty Space (media room, wine room, etc.)
• Kitchens
• Bathrooms
SPECIALTY:
• Product Design or Special Detail
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all ASID members in good standing in the Texas Chapter.
Participants may be individuals or part of a design team engaged in the practice of interior design. (Note: ASID member must have been significant part of team.)
CRITERIA (See Entry Application and Requirements for additional information.)
1. Each entry must have been completed after January 1, 2002.
2. Projects may be entered in only one category.
3. Previously published projects may be entered.
4. Up to 5 photographs (8 x 10) will be required per entry.
5. Entries must be submitted in black three-ring looseleaf binders, provided by you.
6. Only 2 projects per Entrant.
7. Cost per Entry – $55.
