PRESS RELEASE

Fundraising Goes Green with the BenchBuddy(TM) Stadium Seat Cushion

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Dec. 12, 2007 -- The BenchBuddy(TM) isn't just an ordinary seat cushion. As the world is becoming increasingly aware of the important balance between manufactured consumer products and the delicate balance of the ecosystem that sustains life around us, many manufacturers are recognizing the demand for sustainable products. Sustainable products are those products providing environmental, social, and economic benefits while protecting public health, welfare, and environment over their full commercial cycle, from the extraction of raw materials to final disposition.

One such recent development has made its way to the fundraising and promotional product market. While researching modern decomposable materials for the development of an automotive oil filter product, Scott Helms, owner of Grand Terrain Products of South Bend, Indiana, realized another use for the materials he was evaluating. Once he had selected the most capable materials for his new product, the BenchBuddy(TM) biodegradable, compostable seat cushion was born.

While thoughts of composting are most often associated with leftover food items and grass clippings, the BenchBuddy(TM) is manufactured using materials that can be composted, and bears the Biodegradable Products Institute logo of approval. Developed with the entire life-cycle of the product in mind, the materials combine the performance demanded by customers while in use, and convert effortlessly into carbon dioxide and water within weeks of disposal. No matter how the BenchBuddy(TM) is disposed of, it will decompose much quicker than traditional seat cushion materials that can take hundreds of years to decompose.

"We feel that our BenchBuddy(TM) seat cushion is a perfect sustainable product," Helms says. "For fundraising, it is very affordable, and can be sold for a reasonable price and still provide a very good profit margin. It is manufactured using environmentally friendly materials, made from annually renewable agricultural resources (corn, potato, rice, and soy ...), and provides business for American farmers. It is assembled at Goodwill Industries while helping to provide work for underprivileged individuals. And finally, it comforts people while they enjoy an activity, making it a perfect sustainable fundraising or promotional product for any activity that includes hard, sometimes cold, uncomfortable seating."

All of the materials are manufactured in the United States, and then shipped to area Goodwill Industries, where Grand Terrain Products has arranged to have final assembly, packing and shipping take place. Helms says his company is hoping the BenchBuddy(TM) will find a successful niche in the fundraising and promotional seat cushion marketplace for the growing number of consumers and organizations who are selecting products not only based on cost and quality, but also making environmental responsibility a requirement.

The company is also looking at opportunities for medical (EMS), disaster (victim) relief, computer accessories, and packaging, among others. Grand Terrain Products has the capability to die-cut and laminate their materials to accommodate a variety of needs.
