Charles Alan Launches Healthcare-focused Furniture Lines with
NuBax Seating Technology, Offering Smart Design and Health
Benefits
DALLAS, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/
-- Charles Alan, Inc. today launched its new
healthcare-focused Sovereign and Winston Series of furniture
equipped with ProBax(R) seating technology by NuBax Limited at
the Healthcare Design.07 Conference. Charles Alan is one of
the leading independent furniture manufacturers in the nation,
recognized not only for its product line, but also for
assisting other manufacturers. The Sovereign and Winston
Series are available in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Designed for hospitals,
long-term care and private use, Charles Alan's Sovereign and
Winston Series incorporate NuBax's patented ProBax(R) seating
design to drastically increase patient comfort and deliver
health and safety benefits for all patients. By combining
Charles Alan's quality design and craftsmanship with ProBax(R)
seating technology, healthcare facilities can now provide
caregivers and patients an attractive seating option designed
to help facilitate post-operative recovery and promote
long-term health.
"Charles Alan has been
involved in the healthcare market over the last ten years and
we are committed to the ongoing improvement of what is
currently a product of exceptional value," said Margaret
Sevadjian, CEO of Charles Alan. "We are continually challenged
to design, engineer and develop products that significantly
improve the comfort and ergonomics for our customers. The
NuBax technology allowed us the opportunity to design a
healthcare product that delivers results and proven health
benefits -- this new product line does just that."
Medical trials on seating
with ProBax(R) performed in the United Kingdom and United
States indicate significant health benefits, including
increased venous blood flow in the lower limbs, which reduces
the possibility of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). The primary
cause of DVT is poor blood flow, which causes blood clots to
form in a vein deep inside a muscle, which can result in
severe organ damage and even death. Post-operative patients
are at higher risk for DVT.
"Following numerous blood
flow trials with ProBax(R), we found the seating design
technology to improve the postural position of the spine and
significantly increase lower limb blood flow," said Jon
Senkowsky, M.D., a board-certified vascular surgeon. "Based on
these studies, the ProBax(R) design has been shown to enhance
response times, raise alertness levels and reduce the onset of
muscle fatigue. The increased blood flow has significant
medical benefits for post-operative and elderly patients."
NuBax can help facilitate the following patient benefits:
-- Improved seated posture provides a good starting position to get in
and out of the chair
-- Improved circulation, especially to the lower limbs and buttocks,
should aid prevention of tissue breakdown and should reduce risks of
DVT-like events associated with long-term sitting
-- Respiratory function and digestion may be enhanced by encouraging a
more upright posture
-- Improved posture may assist in reducing pain caused by insufficient
support
-- Postural stability may give the patient an improved sense of support
and security
-- Encouraging upright seated posture has been shown to stimulate the
processes that maintain balance when walking, therefore helping to
prevent falls
-- Good comfort and support may help reduce agitation, especially for
patients with dementia
-- Improved seated posture may help encourage communication and social
interaction
"We are delighted to partner
with such a respected speciality furniture manufacturer as
Charles Alan, especially with its new patient furniture lines
designed for the healthcare sector," said David Hughes, Head
of Furniture, Medical and Sport at NuBax. "Charles Alan's new
Sovereign and Winston Series with ProBax(R) are not only
superbly designed but also offer unique potential medical and
health benefits for patients. The two furniture lines have
received a tremendous response from focus groups, including
healthcare designers, architects and hospital buying groups."
ProBax(R) technology can be
incorporated into most forms of seating, including the
automotive and aviation industries. Two years ago, Lotus
became the first car manufacturer to introduce the NuBax
technology, branded as ProBax(R), in all its current road
models. The NuBax technology is currently being tested by
other leading vehicle manufacturers, where it has both reduced
weight and delivered performance benefits.
Landmark Aviation offers its
corporate aircraft customers NuBax's AeroBax(R) seating
technology, which offers weight and cost savings in addition
to the increased comfort and health benefits desired by pilots
and passengers. NuBax also has licensing agreements in place
with furniture manufacturer Bretford, Inc. and now Charles
Alan, Inc. for the further development of its product range
across core markets in North America.
