"We're very proud to be
opening this location and to be a part of a community like
Decatur, which so obviously cares about and promotes the
arts," said President Janet S. Day. "We chose Decatur for a
number of reasons, including the number of inquiries we
receive from this part of Metro Atlanta who find the Sandy
Springs location too far away for them. I think it also gives
us the chance to reach out to potential students in Newton and
Rockdale Counties, as well as part of Gwinnett. And with the
wonderful support of the arts on the part of the Decatur
community and the warm welcome we have received in response to
our preliminary fact-finding efforts, we knew we would be very
much at home!"
Initially, The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur will offer
bachelor's degree programs in advertising, fashion & retail
management, graphic design, interior design, media arts &
animation, and Web design & interactive media. Associate
degree programs will be offered in graphic design, and Web
design & interactive media. Diplomas will be awarded in
advertising design, digital design, residential interiors, and
Web design.
All required classes for these programs, including general
education, will be available at the Decatur campus. Students
whose programs are offered only at the Atlanta campus at 6600
Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs can attend general
education and other required or elective classes that are
offered at the Decatur campus if it is more convenient.
Students enrolled at the Decatur location may take elective
classes at the Atlanta campus if they wish. And students at
both locations can enroll in online classes.
"The Art Institute of Atlanta-Decatur will offer curricula
that complement the demand for arts education in the southeast
region," says John Mazzoni, president of The Art Institutes.
"We are confident that the college will enable students to
achieve their professional aspirations while making a
meaningful contribution to their communities."
