Young Designer's Work Featured in Sandpipers' Holiday Homes Tour November 30th - December 2nd: Sarah Barnard is the Only Interior Designer to Participate in the Tour Five Times Before Her 30th Birthday

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif., Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The work of Sarah Barnard, an interior designer renowned for her innovative work, will again be featured on the Sandpipers' Holiday Homes Tour. This annual tour showcases designers' talents in multiple South Bay homes, to raise funds for local charities which touch the lives of many residents in need.

Barnard is the only interior designer under 30 years old to participate in the tour five times. This year, she renovated the garden level family room of the Kim residence, along with two guest rooms and both of the children's rooms. Her inspiration came from the Kim family's active lifestyle, Asian heritage and as a response to the traditionally styled spaces on the upper two floors.

Denise Pelligrino, a Sandpiper member and Holiday Homes Tour volunteer said, "From the point of conception to the beautifully executed finished product, Sarah Barnard is a breath of fresh air. Her versatility and well-balanced style exude a level of confidence one would come to expect from someone far beyond her years."

-- Family Room & Patio Garden -- In true Sarah Barnard signature style the family room boasts a myriad of custom pieces designed specially for the Kim family. The mohair sectional sofa, entertainment center with
integral Oriental wood desk, natural woolen area rug and specialty guitar mounts each play a part in creating this truly personalized environment. Outside, the handmade Asian ceramic pottery is home to an array of cacti and succulents which complement the luxurious and durable custom outdoor pillows.

-- The guest bedrooms continue the ultra custom trend. Barnard designed a one-of-a-kind bed featuring a persimmon colored, metallic leather headboard and deep walnut frame fitted with claw feet in the spirit of an oversized Chippendale wing chair. Barnard also designed a wall-to-wall headboard installation for a guest bedroom with two twin beds. The headboard is veneered with Sapele wood and features a floating drawer paired with an early 1900's metal desk chair.

-- The children's rooms were especially enjoyable for Barnard on this year's tour. The little boy's room is truly outfitted for a "little man" in deep navy, peanut butter and chocolate hues. With a retro-modern vibe and a stylized mural of James Bond's Aston Martin -- this is one room that he won't grow out of any time soon. The girls' room is a whirlwind of delight. Barnard's wall treatment plays on Polk-a-dots with hand formed clay molds, intricately painted with recycled crushed glass in fields of the girls' favorite things. Inspired by dinner plates, Barnard's artistic installation does not disappoint.

Sandpipers' Holiday Homes Tour member & volunteer Penny Bordokas says, "It is Barnard's keen sense of juxtaposing the ornate with the simple, as well as her awareness for the tastes of the homeowners, that make her designs so unique. It is a skill," she says, "difficult for even seasoned designers to master."

"Sarah Barnard possesses the daring, exuberance and work ethic of a newly sprung professional, yet a highly sophisticated awareness of the craft," Bordokas says. "She is a truly one of the brightest young talents taking interior design to new levels of excitement and inspiration."

Sarah Barnard is an award winning Los Angeles-based interior designer specializing in unique spaces for private residences and commercial interiors.
