LOS ANGELES and WASHINGTON, Feb.
4, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Jonathan Nehmer + Associates (JN+A),
one of the world's leading hospitality architecture, design
and project management firms, today announced that it has
opened a West Coast office to better serve western and
northwestern projects, as well as a growing number of clients
in Hawaii and the Pacific Rim, most notably China and India.
The new office, located in Carlsbad, Calif., will be led by
David Winkler, Vice President.
"The western part of the United States is exploding with hotel
development," said Jonathan Nehmer, President. "According to
Lodging Econometrics, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada
and Arizona account for 29 percent of the new construction
projects in the U.S. pipeline, with more than 650 of those
projects in Southern California alone."
"The new office will allow us to be 'on the ground,' in close
proximity to our projects to provide greater hands-on
service," Winkler said. "Our philosophy begins with creating a
hospitality structure that is both functional and beautiful
and then helping it become operational as quickly and
economically as possible. We will initially focus on project
management for hospitality projects in the region. We will
continue to provide architecture and design services from our
Washington, D.C.-area office, but plan to add those services
out west as soon as possible. JN+A is one of only a handful of
firms that provides a full scope of services to the
hospitality industry, including architecture and design
services as well as project management."
Currently, more than 10 percent of the firm's projects are
located in the region, and that number is expected to expand
significantly over the next three to five years.
Winkler joins JN+A with more than 20 years of project
management and engineering experience, including working for
many of the major hotel companies, as well as his own firm. He
has been involved with hundreds of construction projects,
primarily in hospitality, and also has experience in mixed-use
development, multi-family housing, retail, office and public
building venues. His hospitality expertise includes new
construction, conversions, renovations, historic properties
and adaptive reuse.
The firm will act as the owner's advocate from concept design
through the completion of the construction process. Key
project services include diligence surveys and property
condition assessments, preconstruction services for design
team selection and management, conceptual design review and
budgeting, project accounting services throughout the design
and construction phases, scheduling and management of the
general contractor bid process. Construction phase services
include on-site monitoring of the construction progress;
schedule, budget, and progress updates; lender's review and
inspection services; negotiation of change proposals and
contract changes; and reviews of construction quality and
workmanship. Closeout services include creation and review of
punch lists and assistance with turnover issues.
