The HOSPY Awards are an annual
event sponsored by NEWH -- The Hospitality Industry Network.
The 2007 Awards were held at Wynn Las Vegas on Saturday,
November 3 and drew the elite of the architecture, design and
development community.
The principles of CLEO Design, Ann Fleming and Ken Kulas, were
honored to accept their HOSPY Award for Best Casino Space
during an evening celebrated with fellow design industry
colleagues and friends.
"We're delighted to be able to accept this award amongst our
fellow design professionals, all of whom have contributed
significantly to making the interior spaces in the hospitality
industry more beautiful," stated Ann Fleming. "To be able to
consider everyone in this room tonight as our peers is an
incredible compliment, and not one we take lightly."
Their award-winning High Limit Gaming Area project at the Beau
Rivage Resort & Casino combines not only architectural
innovation and unsurpassed style, but also stands as a prime
example of what an experienced design firm can produce up
against a deadline. CLEO Design accomplished everything the
resort was looking for to satisfy their high-limit gaming
clientele with panache and on-deadline, delivering such unique
elements as an interior-lit onyx-top bar, ivory travertine and
glass mosaic art panels adorning the gaming area, and an
overall air of sophistication with their use of deep brown and
green tones in fabrics and carpeting.
Previously, CLEO has earned HOSPY awards in the Best Timeshare
and Best Restaurant categories for outstanding hospitality
design accomplishments with their Royal Resort and Fusia
Restaurant, Luxor Las Vegas projects respectively.
In addition to their recent HOSPY Awards win, CLEO Design has
also been recognized by Interior Design Magazine as one of
their Industry Design Giants for 2007. Industry Design Giant
status is determined by hospitality design fees for the
12-month period fromJuly 2006 to June 2007. No small
accomplishment, as CLEO's designation places them in the top
75 of all hospitality-related design firms worldwide, not just
the United States.
A presence in the Las Vegas design realm for over seven years,
CLEO Design's cutting-edge concepts consistently capture the
attention of the hospitality industry. With a client list that
comprises the who's who of the hospitality industry, their
innovative projects can be enjoyed not only in multiple Las
Vegas Strip casinos and resorts, but as far away as properties
in Macau as well.
Ken Kulas states, "Cleo Designs has been ever-evolving its
approach to design from our roots with the MGM Mirage to the
latest construction trends. We feel it is essential to create
architectural spaces that feature state-of-the-art audio and
visual components cleverly balanced with comfort, warmth, and
magnetism."
CLEO Design, a part of the original design team, recently
completed casino interior and public area expansions projects
for the Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino locations in both
Tampa and Hollywood, Florida. Their current projects include
the Blue Chip Casino (Michigan City, IN), Majestic Star
