NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2008 /PRNewswire/
-- Delivering on its promise of bringing stylish design and
increased functionality into all of its home appliance
products, LG Electronics, the world's largest air conditioner
manufacturer, today unveiled a new Inverter series of
mini-split heat pump air conditioners, as part of its popular
"ART COOL" product line. ART COOL is LG's premium,
design-oriented air conditioner series, which also includes
renditions of classic art pieces by famous painters, as well
as a unique picture frame model that allows users to modify
and customize the unit with their own artwork or photography.
The series helps to transform household appliances such as air
conditioners into stylish objects of art.
The new ART COOL Inverter line will be on display for the
first time at the annual Air-Conditioning, Heating and
Refrigeration (AHR) Exposition, Jan. 22-24, in New York City.
Complementing the ART COOL Inverter series at the show will be
the full ART COOL Picture, Dual and Tri Zone lines, LG's
standard 13 SEER mini splits, floor standing models, ceiling
cassette units, as well as LG's broad portfolio of Packaged
Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) models and
through-the-wall-unit air conditioner units.
Much like the traditional LG ART COOL series, the new ART COOL
Inverter line features a slim interior, wall-mounted
evaporator that can be fit to enhance the end user's decor.
The units feature designer color finishes to complement any
home decor, including the standard mirror finish and optional
panel colors such as an organic cream white, art flower gold
and snow flower white. The outdoor condensing unit provides
quiet operation, making it neighbor-friendly.
LG's ART COOL Inverter heat pump air conditioners use a
variable speed compressor, rather than the constant speed
found in conventional units. Instead of shutting off once the
desired temperature is reached, the inverter compressor
continues to operate at a low speed to maintain that
temperature, resulting in quieter operation and greater energy
efficiency when compared to conventional models that cycle on
and off. The new models have efficiency ratings ranging from
16 to 19.7 SEER, which translates into excellent energy
savings for the consumer.
"Enhancing our advanced air conditioner technology builds on
LG Electronics' position both as the largest supplier of
residential air conditioner units and as a leading supplier of
commercial units as well," said Steve Schmitt, National Sales
Manager, LG Electronics. "The evolution of our ART COOL line
combines cutting-edge technology and stylish designs that
deliver innovative comfort solutions that meet the needs of
today's discerning consumers."
The new ART COOL Inverter series provides consumers with more
unique features than conventional air conditioners available
on the market today. LG's proprietary Gold-Fin anti-corrosive
treatment is a standard feature on the outdoor condenser unit.
Gold-Fin covers the outdoor coil surface and protects the unit
from the corrosive effects of outside air and extends the
operation life of the unit. This is particularly useful for
coastal environments or areas with high pollution levels.
The unit's "Chaos Swing" feature creates a more natural flow
of air to eliminate hot or cold spots from a room with
computer-controlled vanes that simulate a natural breeze. Its
Plasma Air Purifying System removes air impurities -- such as
microscopic contaminants like dust, pet fur and pollen --
through a four-stage process, offering users a healthier
living environment. Other noteworthy features include an
auto-change function that automatically adjusts from cooling
to heating depending on the users' preference and a Jet Cool
option which cools warm rooms in 30 minutes or less.
Like LG's PTAC systems, the new ART COOL Inverter line
features an optional energy management wireless wall
thermostat accessory kit. This innovative digital thermostat
provides an easy way to manage costs, while at the same time,
ensuring perfect comfort. It combines the energy-saving
convenience of complete programmability and temperature
control for both occupied and unoccupied rooms. Its unique
Occupancy Sensor automatically turns off the air conditioner
when a room is unoccupied, resulting in greater energy
savings.
The new ART COOL Inverter heat pump air conditioners will be
available in the first quarter of 2008 in four different BTU
levels, ranging from 9,000 to 24,000 BTUs.
In addition to its residential offerings, LG is also showing
for the first time in the U.S. a wide range of applied
commercial air conditioning products in a variety of styles
and capacities. At the show, LG will preview its much
anticipated Multi V applied commercial VRF offering. These
units feature industry-leading efficiency, low operational
noise levels and the longest piping length in the industry.
As the world's number one provider of residential air
conditioners and with more than half a century of expertise in
the home appliance industry, LG continues to set new standards
for home appliance innovation, style, and convenience to
enhance people's everyday lives. The company holds the record
for the greatest sales in home air conditioners in the world
since 2000.
