Formica Limited is proud to announce The Formica® Design Award
2007/08, an exciting new competition for emerging designers.
Set in the context of a sports stadium, designers from many
different disciplines will be given the opportunity to let
their imagination and skills shine within designated areas of
the stadium. The competition is open to all emerging designers
in the UK and Ireland and will close at the end of February
2008.
The competition will be split into four spatial areas, each of
which offers a different interior design challenge within the
overall theme.
The category areas are:
• the main entrance hall for the stadium,
• a public washroom area within the stadium,
• a VIP hospitality suite within the stadium and
• a retail space within the stadium.
Entrants must choose a category and then design specific
elements for this area, or the whole interior scheme, as
desired. The entries must include product from the Formica®
materials portfolio in their choice of materials. A full list
of the entry requirements is available to download from the
dedicated website for the competition,
www.formicadesignaward.co.uk, along with supporting
information and a resource centre. Formica Limited is
encouraging all new designers to log onto the website and take
part in this competition.
The sports stadia environment throws up many interesting
challenges and considerations, especially given the various
changing demands on such spaces. Exciting and topical, the
theme offers plenty of scope, and the competition has already
received very positive feedback from design tutors at colleges
within the UK.

Prize money, work experience and/or design development will be
offered to the overall winner, and individual category winners
will also be rewarded.
