GTM Architects and the Kentlands Company
Set New Standards With Courts of Woodside
Custom Re-Development
Includes 23 New Town Homes and Renovated Historic Houses on
2.7 Acre Park-Like Setting
BETHESDA, Md., April 11
/PRNewswire/ -- GTM Architects, a full service award-winning
architecture, planning and interior design firm, and the
Kentlands Company, a long renowned Washington area home
builder and land developer, today unveiled the plans for
Courts of Woodside in Silver Spring, Md. A unique residential
development in the historic neighborhood of Woodside, the 2.7
acre custom enclave has been designed to maximize and renovate
the three existing historic structures, while seamlessly
integrating 23 new town homes.
More than five years in the
making, the pairing of one of Maryland's most experienced
builders and one of the Washington area's premier residential
design firms provided the vision behind Courts of Woodside.
The companies are breaking ground this month, and the sales
office will open in the beginning of May to begin presales on
the new homes.
"This new development
embodies the best of traditional architecture and modern
amenities with smart growth planning," said Joe Alfandre.
Blending Old with New
In creating Courts of
Woodside, GTM and the Kentlands wanted to emulate the charm of
the Woodside neighborhood, and the companies were extremely
committed to restoring the three historic single-family homes,
built in 1907 and 1908, and preserving two mature specimen
trees located on the re-development that were originally
located on the site. The single family homes were purchased in
a state of disrepair and will be renovated to their former
glory. For the town homes, design elements of these historic
homes were taken into consideration and will include
traditional architectural touches such as cottage-style period
moldings, vintage roof dormers, carriage style doors and
covered porches.
The Location
Urban renewal has bred new
life into downtown Silver Spring, which now boasts an
abundance of restaurants, bars, boutiques and landmarks, like
the AFI Silver Theater. The Courts of Woodside development is
just a few blocks north of this burgeoning area, and is
conveniently located just inside the capital beltway, on major
bus routes and within close proximity to Metro's red line.
"What makes Courts of
Woodside stand out is not just the homes themselves, but the
exciting things happening in the community," said George
Myers. "Silver Spring was the perfect choice, with the great
downtown a stone's throw away and prime location to public
transportation. We are excited to be a part of this great
urban renewal."
