Sauerbruch Hutton Receives Revit BIM
Experience Award for Use of Building Information Modeling on
Sustainable Commercial Projects
Revit
Architecture enables innovation in customized 2D and 3D
building designs
PARIS, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK)
today announced that Sauerbruch Hutton Architects has been
presented with a Revit BIM Experience Award for their use of
Revit Architecture software on complex, sustainable commercial
buildings. The Berlin- and London-based firm uses Revit
Architecture to unite function, high-quality design and
ecological sustainability in each of their projects. The Revit
BIM Experience Award honors firms for their innovation and
excellence in implementing the Revit platform for building
information modeling (BIM) to create quality, complex designs
and collaborate across the building design disciplines.
Founded in 1989, Sauerbruch
Hutton is an architecture, urban design and interior design
practice of approximately 100 people. Winner of several
national and international awards, the firm's work encompasses
office and commercial buildings, laboratories and production
halls, residential housing, as well as urban design
commissions. The firm has been using Revit Architecture since
2005 on a variety of building projects.
Recently, the firm utilized
Revit Architecture on the 37,900 square meter, 15-story
extension to the KFW Banking Group West Arcade project in
Frankfurt, Germany. Revit Architecture facilitated innovation
and collaboration from schematic design through construction
on this challenging project. The project completes an existing
ensemble of office structures built in 1970s, 1980s and 1990s,
offering space for around 550 workplaces as a well as a
conference center. For over one year, eight architects
collaborated on the project, using Revit Architecture to
design a special curtain wall system and exterior and interior
multi-layer curved walls, as well as customizing 2D and 3D
building components, such as individual doors and furniture.
The West Arcade will be one
of the first office buildings worldwide to operate on less
than 1.000,800 kwh/m2. Green innovations, such as a
double-layered, wind-pressurized facade, offer natural
ventilation independent of external conditions. High
insulation values and efficient solar protection also play a
role in the new building meeting the German Solar Building
guidelines.
"With a history of leading
the industry in innovative software solutions, Autodesk is
dedicated to supporting customers in their quest for more
sustainable designs," said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president,
Autodesk AEC Solutions. "Sauerbruch Hutton shares Autodesk's
commitment to building information modeling and green
building, and is well-deserving of this award."
