"Express Yourself"
Hands-On Design Experience in NeoCon Showroom Encourages
Creativity —
As Do New Shell Chair, Expanded Wood Lines
Interactivity is the theme at Grand Rapids Chair Company’s
NeoCon showroom in Chicago, June 11-13. Visitors will enjoy a
glimpse of four design-it-yourself chair lines and get the
opportunity to stretch their creative muscles on site.
Three new product lines: Allison™, a "spyder-leg" stack chair;
Leigh™, a sled-base stack chair; and Mojo™, a "Euro-base"
stack chair; are featured in the showroom alongside the
Amanda™ chair, which debuted to overwhelming acclaim at NeoCon
2006. The showroom design emphasizes Grand Rapids Chair
Company’s focus on collaborative product design. Giant sketch
pads, oversized geometric tools, and chalk walls will welcome
visitors interested in exploring their creativity and entering
the Put Your Back Into It design contest for a chance to win a
trip to Miami Beach.
"At Grand Rapids Chair Company, you don’t have to limit
yourself to our standard offerings. We welcome the opportunity
to create something unique, without the long lead times or
price tags typically associated with custom furnishings. It’s
a philosophy that resonates with customers in the restaurant,
hospitality, school, library, and healthcare industries.
"Customization can be the edge a designer, architect or
facilities manager needs to take home the contract at day’s
end," says Tom Southwell, vice president of sales and
marketing at the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based manufacturer.
What can you do to distinguish these chairs? Incorporate a
logo. Engrave a signature. Repeat a motif. Use multiple
fabrics. Even add arms (Amanda) or casters (Mojo). Exclusive
Grand Rapids Chair Company technologies let specifiers
personalize the shape, inlay, cutout, upholstery treatment and
graphic design of the chair back. It’s an easy, affordable way
to distinguish a project or company from all others.
"Our employees are encouraged to think outside the box and
contribute ideas that lend themselves to adding that wow
factor to our products. We have a lot of fun and success with
the process. So why not offer our customers that same
opportunity?" asks Amanda Harnish, Grand Rapids Chair
Marketing Director.
She should know. Amanda Harnish’s energy and get-it-done work
style made her the inspiration for the Amanda Chair.
Introduced at NeoCon a year ago as "the chair you design",
this product hinted at a much broader product offering and
business vision than manufacturing quality seating and table
products.
This NeoCon, Grand Rapids Chair Company is emphasizing its
broader business vision with "Amanda: Put Your Back Into It,"
a juried contest soliciting unique chair designs. The winning
designer will receive a trip to Miami Beach including airfare
and lodging. Two runners-up will each receive a chair
incorporating their design. Entries must be received no later
than June 30, 2007. Entry application and a complete list of
rules can be downloaded at www.grandrapidschair.com.
