'Eye
on Design': Interior Designer, General Contractor Offers
Helpful Hints for Any Project in New Book
WEST LAKE VILLAGE, Calif.,
June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Author Eileen Gould teaches readers
how to build houses, design living spaces and tackle home
improvement projects of all kinds in her new book, "Eye on
Design: Seven Steps to Getting Started on Your Construction
and Design Projects" (now available through AuthorHouse).
This comprehensive how-to
book includes simple ideas for design and construction
projects for homes, offices, major companies and retail
spaces. From people who want to make changes to their space
but simply can't afford it to do-it-yourself types, this book
will provide guidance and helpful hints for everyone
interested in design and construction.
Gould also offers tips to
help readers protect themselves from dishonest contractors,
hire interior designers and even find a reputable general
contractor for any project. The book guides readers through
the entire process from preliminary planning to setting
realistic goals to the final design details.
"I've seen all in my 25+
years as an interior designer and general contractor. I have a
full appreciation for the pitfalls, pratfalls and utter
frustration of this process called remodeling and renovation,"
Gould writes. "But, I have come to see the results 99.9
percent of the time, and ultimately it keeps me coming back
for more. I'm serving my clientele. I have become very
passionate in wanting to do the very best that I can in
completing this process. So, it is my fervent wish and goal in
writing this book that I share with you my desires to improve
upon your lifestyle with the reconstruction and improvement of
your environment."
Gould began her career at
Penn State University and Medical College of Pennsylvania,
where she earned a degree in medical technology. Unhappy in
the field, she began attending design school and soon earned
certification in interior design. After working for several
design companies, she started her own business, Lifestyles
Interior Design and Construction Inc., which has grown to
include a staff and has been honored with many awards. Gould
has appeared on Channel 7 news in California as well as HGTV's
"Designer's Challenge." Several years ago she received her
general contracting license and will soon begin studying green
design and other environmentally sound practices. Active in
Rotary Club, the Assistance League and Junior Achievement,
Gould's philanthropic endeavors have also taken her to Mexico
where she designed an orphanage for needy children. She also
designed a women's shelter. She currently lives in Southern
California with her husband and two children. "Eye on Design"
is her first book. More information is available at
