Sea Gull Lighting Products, LLC Honored by EPA with 2007 ENERGY STAR(R) Sustained Excellence Award

Leading Decorative and Functional Lighting Manufacturer Receives Third EPA Honor in Four Years for Promoting ENERGY STAR(R) Lighting and Energy Efficiency

RIVERSIDE, N.J., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third time in the past four years, Sea Gull Lighting Products, LLC (www.SeaGullLighting.com) has been honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its commitment and promotion of ENERGY STAR(R) lighting and energy efficiency.

In 2004 and 2005, Sea Gull Lighting was named the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award by the EPA for its efforts to actively develop, distribute, sell and market environmentally-friendly lighting products and ceiling fans that prevent greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

This year, the EPA will present Sea Gull Lighting with the 2007 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award in ceremonies to be held March 21, 2007 in Washington, D.C. Selected from thousands of organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program, the 2007 Sustained Excellence Award is presented only to select organizations that have aggressively fulfilled ENERGY STAR initiatives through the prolonged promotion of its benefits and the ongoing development and introduction of new ENERGY STAR products.

"Partners like Sea Gull Lighting are outstanding leaders in protecting our environment through energy efficiency," said Bill Wehrum, acting assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation. "As one of the 2007 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence winners, Sea Gull Lighting has taken energy efficiency to new heights year after year and we all benefit."

A charter member of the ENERGY STAR program since 1992, Sea Gull Lighting currently markets an industry-leading 500-plus ENERGY STAR qualified lighting fixtures to a diverse customer base that includes building professionals, the distributors and lighting showrooms. The company is also an active ENERGY STAR partner that rigorously promotes energy-efficiency through a comprehensive marketing, advertising and communications program.

"We strongly believe in the ENERGY STAR program and the need to protect our environment through the greater use and proliferation of energy-efficient products," says Ace Rosenstein, the company's vice president of marketing and business development. "We are also a proud partner of the program and dedicated to working with the EPA as well as our trade partners and customers to deliver lighting that not only saves energy and reduces energy costs, but also greatly reduces the emission of greenhouse gases that are negatively impacting our planet."

"Energy-efficiency isn't just a sales device for this company, it is a mission in which we firmly believe and actively promote," adds Jeff Beiter, Director, Business Development of Energy Efficient Products for Sea Gull Lighting. "We are committed to extolling the eco-friendly benefits of the ENERGY STAR program as well as providing energy-efficient products that meet everyday lighting needs. In addition, our ENERGY STAR educational efforts are a part of a larger corporate initiative to spread our knowledge and expertise to all of our Generation Brands Companies, customers and business partners."

Beiter continues, "In addition, few people understand the true benefits of ENERGY STAR qualified lighting. By simply switching five traditional lighting fixtures to ENERGY STAR qualified models in the home, consumers are likely to save hundreds of dollars by the time the first set of bulbs burn out. Plus, if every American home performed this task, each year our nation would reduce greenhouse emissions by one trillion pounds. This equals the energy output of more than 21 power plants and a truly large step toward the greening of America."
